Ronimo Games creates games for consoles (such as PS4, XBoxOne, Switch) and PC, and is best known for the games Awesomenauts and Swords and Soldiers 2. Ronimo focusses on making fun games that we would like to play ourselves. We are a medium size studio (currently 21 people) with an open culture: everyone gets to join in playtests and brainstorms and share ideas and feedback. Our games are based on our own original IPs and are made using our own proprietary engine and tools.

Jobs

  • Game UI/UX designer

    We're looking for a UI/UX designer to join us in developing our awesome unannounced new game. As a UI/UX designer, you will help create and contribute to all the UI/UX parts of our newest game. We are looking for team players who can thrive in a highly collaborative, and multi-disciplinary environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Create kick-ass menus and interfaces for our games.
    • Design, create, and implement final procuct user interface assets.
    • Work together with game-designers and artists to create graphically interesting and intuitive interfaces.
    • Quickly come up with wireframes, prototypes, mockups, and other visual designs using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, Principle, Invision or Adobe XD.
    • Use technical and artistic tools to make menus that are functional and visually appealing.
    • Test menus and interfaces on players and gather feedback.
    • Iteratively improve your work based on feedback.
    • Combine art created by our artists with your own interface work.

    Requirements

    • A diploma in interaction design, graphic design, or a game art-related programme, or equivalent.
    • A minimum of 2 years of experience in menu and interface design, preferably in the game industry.
    • Understanding of screen layout/composition, colour, typography, visual hierarchy, and consistency.
    • Knowledge of established menu/interface design patterns in videogames.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
    • The ability to work in a small, multi-disciplinary team and interpret ideas and feedback.
    • Good communication skills and proficiency in the Dutch language.
    • A passion for playing and making computer games.

    Pluses

    • Drawing/painting skills.
    • Basic scripting experience.

  • Visual effects artist

    We're looking for a visual effects artist to join us in developing our awesome unannounced new game. As a visual effects artist, you will help create and contribute to the visual effects of our newest game. We are looking for team players who can thrive in a highly collaborative, and multi-disciplinary environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Concept and create special effects, for example for attacks, impacts and special skills.
    • Make the gameplay feel cool and powerful.
    • Keep special effects readable, even in situations with lots of things happening simultaneously.
    • Combine 2D and 3D, as well as frame-to-frame and particles.
    • Make effects that fit our existing style.
    • Keep performance in mind, including overdraw and texture memory.

    Requirements

    • A diploma in animation, fine arts, game art-related programme or equivalent.
    • A minimum of 2 years of experience in animation and special effects, preferably in the game industry.
    • Experience in creating special effects for games.
    • Knowledge of animation and timing.
    • Creativity in spades and an interest in creating awesome special effects.
    • Proficiency in Photoshop, After Effects and/or Flash.
    • The ability to work in a small, multi-disciplinary team and interpret ideas and feedback from team members with various backgrounds.
    • Good communication skills and proficiency in the Dutch language.
    • A passion for playing and making computer games.

    • Experience with both 2D and 3D projects.

  • 2D environment artist

    We're looking for a 2D Environment Artist to join us in developing our awesome unannounced new game.

    Your role will be to:

    • Create concepts and assets to create memorable environments that fit the overall direction and tone of the game.
    • Breathe life into a universe, fleshing out the world for a brand-new IP.
    • Effectively work with other team members to turn environment concepts into in-game assets.
    • Adapt and iterate existing assets to finetune in-game atmosphere.
    • Take technical constraints and limitations into account to suggest realistically achievable concepts.

    You have a diploma in fine arts, game art-related programme, or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of experience in concept art or environment art, in the game industry. Experience with 2D projects is a strong plus. You have:

    • Experience in creating 2D environments concepts
    • Experience with photobashing techniques and knowledge of image composition
    • Creativity in spades and an interest in creating fantastical worlds with interesting locations
    • Proficiency in Photoshop, knowledge of 3D software is a plus
    • Architectural, landscape and anatomical knowledge
    • The ability to work in a small, multi-disciplinary team and interpret ideas and feedback from team members with various backgrounds
    • Good communication skills and proficiency in the Dutch language, experience in working directly with other departments such as design or production
    • A deep-rooted passion for videogames

  • Office manager

    Ronimo Games is op zoek naar een ervaren officemanager om als intern aanspreekpunt te dienen voor praktische zaken, verantwoordelijkheid te nemen over een deel van onze administratie, en ons kantoor een nóg toffere werkplek te maken.

    We zijn een videogame-ontwikkelingsstudio in het hart van Utrecht en maken al ruim 12 jaar games voor verschillende platformen, waaronder PC, PlayStation, en Xbox. We hebben met onze games, waaronder Awesomenauts en de Swords & Soldiers-serie, een aardige groep fans op weten te bouwen en werken nu aan een nieuw project.

    Waar ga je aan werken?

    • Algemeen facilitair beheer en onderhoud van ons kantoor in de binnenstad in Utrecht, waaronder kantoorinventaris aanschaffen en dienstverleners aansturen.
    • Secretariële ondersteuning tijdens overleg, het aannemen van telefoon, en het beheren van de bedrijfsagenda.
    • Financieel administratieve onderwerpen, waaronder overzicht houden van inkomsten vanuit verschillende bronnen, facturering beheren, en ons archief bijhouden.
    • Personeelsadministratie, zoals het verwerken van sollicitaties en het beheer van verzuim- en urenregistraties.
    • Het organiseren van de bedrijfslunch, de wekelijkse borrel en andere interne festiviteiten (je bent onze nieuwe feestcommissie).

  • Game and level design internship

    We're looking for a game & level design intern to join us in the creation of our awesome new game, during the second half of 2019. As a design intern, you work on things like items, enemies, balance and the gameplay side of level design and characters. We’re looking for fun and outgoing students who are good at working together with others in a team and who speak Dutch fluently. Be sure to provide an extensive portfolio, showing the quality of your best work, but also the diversity of your skills, plus your CV and cover letter. Playable prototypes of the games, mods or projects you have worked on are a requirement: game and level design is not just about writing documents.

  • Special effects animation internship

  • We don't do "snuffelstages".
  • We don't do Summer internships.
  • We're currently not looking for new freelancers to work with.
  • Internships at Ronimo are 4 or 5 months full-time at our office in Utrecht.
  • We have internship openings every half year, roughly for the periods February-June and September-January. Usually we have openings in the fields of 2D art, C++ programming and game/level design.
